Corey Stewart

Corey Stewart is the Managing Member of Stewart PLLC.  He is the former At-Large Chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors (2006 – 2019) and the former U.S. Undersecretary of Commerce for Industry and Security (Acting) (2020 – 2021). 

Mr. Stewart’s practice includes land use and development as well as international trade.  As a land use attorney, Mr. Stewart represents clients in obtaining rezonings, special use permits, comprehensive plan amendments, zoning verifications and other authorizations from local authorities.  Mr. Stewart’s international trade practice focuses on U.S. export controls and sanctions, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), sanctions (OFAC), and foreign investment regulations (CFIUS).

Background

During his tenure as Chairman, Mr. Stewart oversaw rapid residential and commercial development in the County as its population exploded to nearly 500,000 residents.  This background has provided Mr. Stewart a unique understanding of the political and policy ramifications of development from the perspective of those making the decisions.  Over his many years in office, Mr. Stewart developed strong and trusting relationships within Prince William County and throughout the region.

As Undersecretary, Mr. Stewart led the U.S. Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security at a critical time, crafting and implementing U.S. policies on exports of semiconductors and fabrication equipment to China.

Mr. Stewart has been featured on the Nightly Business Report, CNN, Fox News, Fox Business, MSNBC, the CBS Evening News and BBC World News.  Mr. Stewart has traveled to more than 30 nations and has spent extended periods of time working and studying in Sweden, Japan, Poland and Canada.

Education 

Mr. Stewart graduated from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service (BSFS, 1991) and William Mitchell College of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 1997).

Ron Escherich

Ron Escherich is the senior land use planner at Stewart PLLC and is a former Project Manager in Prince William County (2001-2020).

At Stewart PLLC, Mr. Escherich advises businesses, landowners, builders, and developers with obtaining approvals of rezonings, special use permits, site plans and other authorizations. He has managed hundreds of land use cases through the government review process.

Background

During his tenure with Prince William County, Mr. Escherich was involved in all levels of development proposals and projects, including rezonings, special use permits, comprehensive plan amendments, zoning verifications (non-conforming uses) appeals/variances, permit issuances, final inspections, certificates of occupancy, bond releases, re-application and post-submission meetings, resolving engineering and field issues with engineers and inspectors, subdivision preliminaries, Design and Construction Standards Manual (DCSM) waivers and amendments, site/subdivision plans, family land transfers, boundary adjustments and lot consolidations, subdivision/easement/vacation plats, and rezoning proffers and special use conditions.

Mr. Escherich also served as a surveyer/engineer with Rinker Design Associates, a quality assurance engineer with Dewberry, and a supervisor of surveying and site plan review with the City of Fairfax.

Education 

Mr. Escherich graduated from George Washington University with a degree in Geography & Urban Planning (B.A., 1972).
